Tumet Industries LLC was awarded the contract to build the Gambell Community Streets Project. The contract is a $5.8 million project through the Kawerak Transportation Program to construct 3.7 miles of road within the community of Gambell. Tumet was given the notice to proceed in June of 2010 and expects completion in the summer of 2011. At the end of the 2010 season, Tumet had produced and placed over 60,000 cubic yards of local material within the specifications of the contract. Tumet employed 89% tribal members from the region and 79% local to Gambell on this project in 2010.

In 2011 Tumet employed 19 locals out of a crew of 25, that comprised of 76% local hire and 92% tribal members. Gambell Community Streets finished with a high float asphalt emulsion and chip seal on the 3.7 miles of roads and driveways placed in 2010.
