Tumet Industries, LLC was awarded the contract to construct 4.39 miles of road in the community of St. Michael. This included installing culverts, utility protection and constructing 1300 linear feet of boardwalk. The contract is a $8.5 million dollar project through the Kawerak Transportation Program with construction starting 2012 and ending 2013. The roads were finished with an Asphalt Surface Treatment.
Over the two years of the project Tumet employed 51 people, 44 of which were tribally enrolled members and 36 were local to St. Michael. Tumet paid royalty on 56,400 cubic yards of material placed to St. Michael Native Corporation.
